Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes Day is celebrated on November 5th in the United Kingdom. It´s a British tradition dating back to the Gunpower Plot of 1605, when Catholic conspirator Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of the Parliament in London. People celebrate the defeat of Guy Fawkes and the other conspirators with fireworks and bonfires.

There is a fomous rhyme that goes:

Remember remember, the fifth of November

The Gunpower, treason and plot

I know of no reason

Why the gunpower treason

Should ever be forgot
